Job Description

The Crew Chief in Training’s main responsibility is to learn the technical and managerial skills required to become a Crew Chief.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn and refine technical and managerial skills of a Crew Chief

  • Maintain a 45% billable rate

  • Responds to call outs and after hour emergencies.

  • Ensures that all SOPs, DOT, OSHA and other requirements are followed.

  • Operates vehicles & special equipment including forklift, backhoe, amphibious vehicle, vactor, probing rod, motor vehicle, portable generators, pumps, chain saws, chop saws, sewer cleaning machine, etc.

  • Installs, repairs, and problem solve in distribution systems (water and sewer) in both team and individual environments

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Education/Experience : High School Diploma or GED. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Licenses/Certifications : Valid Driver’s License and maintains insurable driving record

(Class A CDL required in order to drive combination rig of truck, trailer & backhoe within six (6) months).

Technical : Basic knowledge with Microsoft Office, internet, phone systems, computers, OSHA requirements, DOT regulations, backhoe operations and distributions systems.

Communication : Communicates clearly & professionally. Contributes to a positive internal & external customer experience. Maintains composure in challenging situations. Collaborates with others. Asks for constructive feedback. Communicates detailed information.

Problem Solving & Quality : Pays attention to detail. Identifies & solves complex issues. Escalates issues accordingly; Checks work for quality. Shares suggestions to improve quality & productivity. Identifies, solves complex issues.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to: frequently lift 50-100 pounds; load, unload & move large equipment/tools; access confined spaces; continuously walk and climb stairs and ladders.
