Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Engineer Hardware - Site Engineering Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in the Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight.

C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

This is a team leadership position on the C2BMC Deployment Team, part of the SEIT organization. It requires managing the team, multiple projects in parallel, and pop-up tasks that occur. The Successful Site Engineering Lead will be a focused team member who interfaces with peer-level team members, the Deployment Team Leadership, and NT management to ensure high-quality products are generated on time and within the available resources.

Essential Functions:

  • Preparation and review of site drawings and plans.

  • Review of the content and details of technical products.

  • Board approval of technical products and acting as a technical interface to Missile Defense National Team (MDNT) working level counterparts and the MDA customer.

  • Document work will be completed via Agile methodologies, updated as required, and work with team leadership on work completion.

  • Develop Basis of Estimates (BOE) and Engineering Estimates (EE) providing hours estimates and justification to complete along with install material estimates.

  • Knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, and techniques and proficiency in Microsoft Visio (other, equivalent professional drawing programs desired) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Technical-related meetings, configuration control, and Bill of Material development.

  • Provide drafting and design engineering during the system design, development, and deployment activities.

  • Control and manage all drawings for the program.

  • Completing required documentation and drawings following the direction of the Systems and/or Hardware Engineer.

  • Work with fielding and mission success organizations to ensure timely and accurate documentation.

Basic Qualifications:

Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume if applicable.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 14 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years experience, or a PhD and 9 years of experience, or 18 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Must be able to work on multiple projects concurrently in a teaming environment and require limited guidance.

  • Must have a strong understanding of drafting and hardware engineering standards.

  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies.

  • Experience in Systems Engineering/Hardware Engineering.

  • Basic understanding of networks (VLANs, switch stacking, routers, etc.).

  • Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of products; project management; strong communication skills with a proactive mindset.

  • This position will also require working with a team in person and remotely.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.

  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance which is required to start; with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • C2BMC experience is highly desired.

Salary Range: $136,300 - $204,500

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
