Welder, Entry Welding Department

1st Shift Hours: 5:00 am to 3:00 pm

Salary Range: \$16.90 To 16.90 Hourly

Job Purpose:

Performs MIG welding. Will be working in various departments welding metal components together to fabricate or repair products, parts, etc. according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders. Essential Functions:

  • Welds metal parts together using appropriate processes and performing related tasks such as cutting and grinding.
  • Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications using measuring instruments.
  • Safe operation and usage of various power tools.
  • Adherence to company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform quality checks using measurement tools.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Works under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs.
  • Understands and complies with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes PPE while performing welding operations to include an apron or front covering for torso protection.
  • While in the workplace, responsible for safety, quality, and housekeeping.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Required Qualifications:

  • Equivalent combination of work experience and Trade School training
  • Must be able to pass a practical welding test.
  • A basic understanding of various measuring tools and layout techniques.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good communication skills, good basic mathematical skills, and good analytical abilities.
  • Good teamwork skills, meet quality requirements, flexible, and able to meet and maintain performance standards.
  • Must be flexible with required working hours, including overtime.
  • Must be flexible within the department and willing to flex to other departments as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of six months to one year of MIG welding experience

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds to shoulder level. Occasionally bends and stoops. Must be able to withstand a minimum of 8 to 10 hours standing on a concrete surface. Must wear applicable and proper protective equipment including, but not limited to: welding hood, protective eye and/or hearing equipment and long sleeves to safely perform job duties. Will occasionally be exposed to chemicals, dust, heat, cold, gas, and/or fumes.

Must be able to adjust physically to normal plant environmental conditions (above moderate heat and cold) and to adapt quickly to physical applications requiring varying motor skills.
