Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) has an exciting IT Engineer II opportunity available within our Enterprise Information Security area. Abou the Role The IT Engineer II role is an integral part of the Security Engineering team, contributing expertise to the design, deployment, and maintenance of a suite of critical security tools utilized by the BCBSM Security Operations Center (SOC) and Incident Response teams. Collaborating closely with senior engineers and security professionals, the IT Engineer II will play a key role in ensuring the effectiveness, reliability, and scalability of these tools in safeguarding BCBSM's digital assets and infrastructure. In this IT Engineer II opportunity, you will: * Collaborate with the Security Engineering team to design and architect security tool solutions that align with BCBSM's security requirements and objectives. * Serve as a subject matter expert on security tool functionality and capabilities, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders as required. * Configure and optimize security detection rules and policies based on evolving threats and organizational needs. * Play a hands-on role in the ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of security tools to ensure optimal performance and efficacy. * Provide technical expertise and guidance during the evaluation and selection of new security tools and technologies. * Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures and configuration guides, for security tools and processes. * Monitor security tool vendor notifications and advisories for vulnerabilities and patches, and coordinate patching efforts with relevant stakeholders. Please Note: Hybrid work structure, which requires working minimum 1-day per week on-site at our downtown Detroit office (we provide free parking that is within covered structure connected directly to our building). Aspects/elements of the role may include: * Design, implement and maintain core security tools and capabilities supporting the cyber intelligence, detection, and response domains. * Identify and drive process automation and improvements across the team. * Participate in short- and long-term planning effort with stakeholders IT groups. * Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to less-experienced team members. "Qualifications" EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, orrelated field preferred. * 5 years of relevant technology work experience required. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Security Tool Expertise: Proficiency in deploying, configuring, and maintaining security tools such as CrowdStrike, Symantec Endpoint DLP, Skybox, Akamai, DMARC, etc., is essential for effectively supporting the Security Operations Center and Incident Response teams. * Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams, documenting procedures, and conveying technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. * Self-Motivated and Driven: The ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and drive projects to completion is crucial in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where priorities may shift rapidly. * Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills and the ability to think critically are necessary for analyzing security tool data, identifying patterns or anomalies indicative of potential security threats, and devising effective solutions to mitigate risks. * Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to tasks, coupled with a keen eye for detail, is essential for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of security tool configurations, monitoring alerts, and documentation. * Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Given the ever-evolving nature of cybersecurity threats and technologies, a willingness to adapt to new challenges, learn new tools and techniques, and stay updated on industry
