Job Description

Northen Arizona University\'s Purchasing Department is now hiring one (1) Procurement Coordinator, Intermediate. Supports overall procurement functions of the University by using a broad knowledge of concepts and procedures to solve problems, reviews and issues purchase orders, reviews and issued non-travel reimbursement requests, ensures compliance, and research cost effective supply options. Approves procurement transactions and reviews for compliance.

Procurement Processing - 80%

  • Creates and issues Purchase Orders on behalf of the University.
  • Prepares, tracks, and manages transactions in NAU\'s financial system.
  • Manages requests from NAU departments through the University\'s online request system.
  • Utilizes various purchase methods to procure materials and services and ensure timely reconciliation of purchases.
  • Provides policy guidance and clarification to campus and vendors.

Compliance and Control - 10%

  • Analyzes Purchasing Requests/Non-Travel Reimbursements for compliance with institutional procedures and state/federal guidelines.
  • Approves procurement transactions as aligned with policy and procedures.

Research - 5%

  • Research new suppliers that provide similar products.
  • Obtains additional quotes to ensure lower cost.
  • Recommends and implements process improvements and new procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Relational Maintenance and Other- 5%

  • Maintains relationships with vendors, University staff, and departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree or undergraduate bachelor\'s degree.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of NAU policies.
  • Understanding of basic purchasing concepts, processes, and practices in Higher Education.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financials.
  • Financial or accounting experience.

  • Understanding of procurement laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Procurement and Accounts Payable systems.

Background Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position.
