Job Summary and Qualifications

  • The Director of Quality Improvement is responsible for the coordination, implementation and oversight of the organization’s quality program. Establishes quality as the guiding principle when exploring organizational efforts to control healthcare costs. Responsible for the production and data analysis of the organization-wide balanced scorecard with cascading metrics. Demonstrates strong knowledge of tools and concepts of performance improvement such as FOCUS-PDSA; and guides performance improvement initiatives throughout the organization.

  • The Director of Quality provides leadership and consultative services to departments and services within the organization in achieving regulatory, accreditation, and organizational compliance in quality and in performance management and improvement activities. Seeks management involvement in the development of a planning approach that supports healthcare quality and patient safety.

  • The Director of Quality will work in collaboration with IT to facilitate the full implementation of the Meaningful Use Program.

  • The Director of Quality also oversees the department of Infection Prevention and directs the activities of surveillance of nosocomial infections, monitoring trends; initiating problem solving, analyzing outcomes, and compiling statistics.

  • Coordinates effective process of organization-wide approach to designing, measuring, assessing and improving performance.

  • Uses statistical process tools to analyze quality processes and outcomes, manages internal and external data bases.

  • Manages TJC CORE Measure and CMS Data Initiatives, coordinating improvement initiatives as indicated by data and outcomes and ensures quality data validity and reliability.

  • Provides leadership and strategic direction for the Meaningful Use Program.

  • Develops, implements and facilitates hospital-wide performance improvement project teams.

  • Teaches quality management and performance improvement process and data management tools and to hospital staff. Provides for the orientation, training and continuing education of staff.

  • Integrates clinical performance improvement initiatives with medical staff performance improvement and quality.

  • Primary liaison with the Joint Commission, updating and monitoring organizational information impacting Joint Commission accreditation. Provide primary reporting on all Joint Commission related activities including planned/unplanned surveys and Annual Periodic Performance Review.

  • Review monitoring of data submission and reports from the Joint Commission, communicating all information from the Joint Commission to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.

  • Provides overall direction necessary to ensure that clinical services are provided in accordance with standards established through state and federal regulations and TJC accreditation. standards, including the National Patient Safety Goals, and that are evidence-based.

  • Responsible for assuring that MCP meets Infection Prevention and Control Standards applied by external agencies such as the CDC, CMS, DOH, TJC, OSHA and others. Assures that the Infection Prevention and Control Program provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff through prevention and risk reduction interventions.

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing/related field or in pursuit thereof; Master’s Degree in Nursing/related field preferred.

Licensure/certification/registration:

  • RN preferred, CPHQ required within 1 year of service.

Experience:

  • 2 years clinical experience; 3-4 years quality/performance.

  • Improvement experience with progressive responsibility.
