Responsibilities

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Neuropalliative Care Chaplain is responsible for the delivery of spiritual care and general counseling, in the outpatient clinic setting, to patients, their loved ones, and, as appropriate, staff in Neuropalliative Care. S/he will have responsibility to ensure that religious and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones are met. S/he will facilitate communication by identifying and helping to resolve potential conflicts and complicated dynamics among family members, discussing spiritual care approaches and plans of care while offering quality of care. The Neuropalliative Care Chaplain is under the direct supervision of the Director of Chaplaincy Services with input from the division chief of Neuropalliative Care or designate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Offers spiritual support to patients, families and staff in the Neuropalliative Care Outpatient Clinic.

  • Documents spiritual assessment and interventions in the patient’s medical record and communicates with patients via MyChart and phone.

  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with members of the interdisciplinary team in relation to patient/family support.

  • Attends meetings of the Neuropalliative Care champions, Neuropalliative Care meetings, weekly department grand rounds, faculty meetings, and other meetings relevant to the position.

  • Develops and participates in research relevant to the field. Participates in teaching/lecturing and presenting on a periodic basis as invited.

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The person who occupies this position must have an MDiv from an accredited seminary or equivalent education as it relates to their religious/spiritual body required.

  • The person must have completed at least four units of ACPE/Clinical Pastoral Education required.

  • The person must be able to be a source of spiritual support to patients and their families (e.g. partners and significant others), be comfortable in using technology in writing patient notes and complete ongoing hospital training, and have experience working in a team-based environment required.

  • Board Certification as a chaplain with APC, NACC or NAJC or Board Certified with one of the latter organizations within 2 years of hire required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 46,987 - $ 65,790 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
