Position Overview:

As the Manager, Strategic Accounts, youre a key member of the Strategic Accounts team, reporting to the Sr. Director, Key Accounts. You will contribute to the success of Ball by working with the Strategic Account (SA) customers in alignment with Regional and Global Beverage strategy to deliver on customer needs and expectations, drive account revenue and profitability.

Your Key Areas of Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate Regional and Global resources to ensure customer needs are met through collaboration with internal functions such as Finance, Global Shared Services (GSS) , Marketing, Innovation, Sustainability, Customer Technical Services, Integrated Business Planning and Quality.

  • Manage account with P&L mindset, applying rigorous business and customer acumen and industry knowledge to near and long-term decision making.

  • Support development and execution of commercial strategy for the Strategic Account aligning Global with Regional strategy, including identifying and providing commercial insights for value growth (new business) & initiatives (current business).

  • Develop a deep understanding, through relationships and analytics of the Strategic Account customers business, markets, needs and expectations and Ball's competitive position.

  • Support strategic planning process by gathering market data and information on volumes and substrate mix, supporting major forecast and strategic plan assumptions (approach, volume, pricing) and supporting the preparation, review, and presentation of internal and external commercial decks. Supportcommunication of variances to operating plan (assumptions, pricing, volumes) and shifts in strategy appropriately throughout the organization. Work with the cross functional teams to deliver value secured within the contract (pricing architecture, commercial playbook).

  • Support customer bid process by helping formulate the offer through effective coordination across regions and functions to collate the required input/information for the bid.

  • Supportthe approach for playbook process & overall contract value alignment, approval and negotiation grid (price, terms, volumes, mix, supply chain, etc.). Supportthe identification of opportunities and volumes to bid. Supportthe proposal, and internal approval process. Supportthe negotiation with customer, within guidance of the commercial committee. Supportpreparation of the contract.

  • Support customer communications through appropriate (management level) customer contacts with regional buying organizations, Co-packers/Bottlers (where applicable), and country organizations. Build/manage regional and local customer relationships and meetings. Address issues that are elevated to commercial disputes. Support the negotiation for settlement of claims (quality, obsolete inventory) and together with the regional and GBS teams support resolution of outstanding accounts receivables.

  • Work effectively in a matrixed organization and ensure collaboration between regional resources to meet the needs of the Strategic Account. Collaborate with Sustainability, Innovation and Marketing teams to develop value proposition for Strategic Account customers including supporting the development of strategy, interfacing with customers and working with internal stakeholders on customer needs and communications. Use in depth of knowledge of Key Accounts (KAs) to support the creation of marketing items and presentation materials. Work to assure that the Ball can is the package of choice for customers.

  • To maximize value at customer, support the Strategic Account in leading and leveraging cross-functional teams as appropriate by setting expectations, following up, providing feedback and working toward removing barriers.

Minimum Education and Experiences:

  • Bachelors degree required with a preference towards an advanced degree such as Masters or higher.

  • 2 year(s) minimum job-related experience in packaging manufacturing.

  • 3 year(s) minimum job related experience in Key Account Management and/or B2B Sales.

  • Customer Relationship Management:

  • Strategic Account/Sales management including strategic Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

  • Customer Focus, with strong influencing, problem solving, conflict management and analytical skills. Showing initiative and sound decision making

  • Finance and Analysis Skills:

  • Financial acumen and negotiation

  • Analysing & interpreting data & making recommendations

  • Organizational: Operating in matrix organizations (internal & external)

  • Computer Proficiency: Microsoft Office : Excel (Pivot Tables, etc.) Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Knowledge of:

  • Production practices.

  • Legislative regulations, business principles & practices related to the aluminium and beverage industry.

  • Blue-chip organizations

Compensation & Benefits

  • This position is eligible to be REMOTE in the U.S., preferably in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic areas, with a home base within a 50-mile radius of a major airport, due to travel requirements (40-50%).

  • Hiring Salary Range: $93,100 - $142,140 (Salary to be determined by the applicants education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)

  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
