Responsibilities
Mid-Level Advanced Metal Fabrication Research and Development Engineer-3
Work Location: Wichita, KS (Onsite)
Key Accountabilities:
Industrializes and scales additive metal manufacturing processes for new aerostructure applications, with a focus on high temperature metal alloys .
Defines engineering requirements, qualification plans, and compliance approaches up front in design for metal additive manufacturing , metallic machining and fabrication, and advance d welding technologies .
Builds and implements digital thread data tracking of metal lic manufacturing processes for an aerospace environment.
Leads advanced metal technology manufacturing research projects from concept to transition to operation through the stage gate process.
P resent s to middle, senior and executive leaders on the progress of a project, including cost, benefit, schedule, and risk impacts.
Oversees metal fabrication concepts through initial configuration, prototyping, risk reduction and mature technology readiness
Understands full life cycle requirements for product and process development on advanced metals projects
Assists with trade studies for design and/or process alternatives.
Capable of defining necessary resources and development plans.
Works in concert with key functions to align and advance project plans.
Documents and communicates plans and evaluations for future work packages, i.e. bid and proposal.
Qualifications
Requirement:

Able to be granted a DoD security clearance.
Experience building interpersonal professional relationships
Experience with metal additive technology and welding technology
Experience with fabrication and machining technology
Familiarity with fabrication and machining of high temperature metal alloys
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
5-8 years’ related experience plus a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering program or 3-6 years’ related experience with a Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering program.
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years’ experience in project management, developing and sustaining large complex projects
Experience utilizing various Microsoft Office Suite applications, such as Office 365 and Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word, Teams and Visio
Current DoD security clearance
Experience with CATIA
Experience using 3D modeling software slicing software for additive manufacturing
Knowledge and experience with metal additive manufacturing technologies including laser powder bed fusion and various direct energy deposition processes
Knowledge and experience with electron and laser beam welding and friction stir welding
Experience in the following areas: Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Risk Management, Affordability Management, Product Configuration Management, Development and/or sustaining programs, Developing Proposals and Estimating, Integrated Program Planning and Scheduling, Cross-functional project management, Continuous Improvement/ Lean
Prior experience presenting detailed reports to Senior Leaders and/or Executives
Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing and supply chain
Knowledge of operational processes and procedures
Knowledge of financial processes and procedures
Team player, very detailed oriented
